Minutes for meeting on 1-18-10. Members present: Dan Coulter, Dave Kaeding, Andy Bennett, Jeff Blackford, Ed Kallal, Mike Frichtl, Ralph Esgar, Jeff Polson, Doug Tucker, Fred Magers, Todd Lee, Dennis Lee, Josh Polson, Todd Coe, Ben Magers, Kirsten Blackford. Aaron Kuehl requested an inventory of chapter equipment. Dennis Lee will look into this issue. The chapter received a $1000 grant from SportDog for habitat improvement. These funds are planned to be used for habitat improvements at Todd Coe’s property. This property is planned for improvement and used to introduce youngsters to hunting opportunities. The state PF conference will be held Jan 22 & 23 at the Par-A-Dice hotel in East Peoria. A meet and greet will be held from 5pm to 12am on Friday the 22 nd, registration from 8am to 9am on Saturday the 23 rd with sessions through the day and an awards banquet to follow. Several of the youth council members painted the inside of our trailer. The trailer will be used to set up the laser shot system at various events. A Young Guns Event is planned for Feb. 14 th from noon to 4pm. This event will be held at Kyle Bleich’s home and feature use of bow and arrow, BB guns and the Laser Shot system will be available. A breakfast fund raiser is planned for April 10 th at the ESDA building in Paxton. Discussed a few ideas for new games and money making ideas for this years banquet. Discussed changes to the Banquet Program, including guns on hand and to be ordered, and any changes in the games and raffles offered. Mike Frichtl will be making a tree order soon. The state PF conference was held Jan 22 & 23 at the Par-A-Dice hotel in East Peoria. The Illinois Pioneer Chapter 69 was well represented in the awards portion of the program. The chapter was awarded “The Regional Award for No Child Left Indoors” for youth programs, “Outstanding Chapter for $750,000 in Habitat Establishment, “The Top Banquet in the State for 2009”. At the state PF conference Dave Kaeding, Jeff Blackford and Matt Bradshaw participated in a Youth Seminar. They answered questions for over an hour regarding the Pioneer Chapter’s youth efforts. There is interest by chapters in expanding their youth programs and the Pioneer Chapter is leading the way. The Laser Shot system was requested by two chapters for use at their banquets. The systems would be provided for a fee and a chapter representative would accompany the system at each event. This item was tabled for further consideration due to short notice for one event and conflict with our banquet with the other. Renting the Laser Shot is something the chapter would like to do when no conflicts complicate the opportunity. A Young Guns Event is planned for Feb. 14 th from noon to 4pm. This event will be held at Kyle Bleich’s home and feature use of bow and arrow, BB guns and the Laser Shot system will be available. Fred Magers has arranged the heaters and Monical’s will provide food and drink for the event. Safety form requirements for this event was discussed. The 2010 banquet on March 20 th will be the 25 th Annual banquet for the Pioneer Chapter. Dave Kaeding motioned to donate $300 to Big Brothers – Big Sisters. Andy Bennett 1 st and Jeff Blackford 2 nd, the motion passed unanimously. Todd Coe, Fred Magers, Mike Frichtl and other interested parties meet to discuss the habitat project on Todd’s property. Todd will come up with a name for the project. Discussed changes to the Banquet Program, including guns on hand and to be ordered, and any changes in the games and raffles offered. Matt Bradshaw mentioned National PF is offering chapters the opportunity to pre-pay membership at last years number and get 10% free memberships for this years banquet. A Young Guns Event was held on Feb. 14 th from noon to 4pm at Kyle Bleich’s farm. 96 kids participated in activities ranging from bow and arrow target shooting, BB gun target shooting, the Laser Shot system, and a digital fishing game. The average age of the kids was around 12 years old. Two BB guns (donated by Big-R) and two bows were given away. Thanks to Monical’s for providing food and drink for the event. Everyone enjoyed the day and the attendance was great.
Discussions continued about the 2010 banquet on March 20 th, this will be the 25 th Annual banquet for the Pioneer Chapter. Issues discussed included new games, gun assignments, layout at the Robert’s gym, and liquor for the banquet.
The Laser Shot system is rented for post-prom on April 24 th.
The chapter has pre-paid 169 memberships. National PF offered this opportunity in exchange for 10% free memberships over last year’s membership number which was 169. By taking advantage of this, the chapter can receive 17 free memberships this year.
The chapter will host a Fish Fry on Thursday February 18, 2010 at the Loda Sportsman Club. This is to show appreciation to the Loda Sportsman Club for their support of chapter and Young Guns activities.
Dave Kaeding urged everyone to work on collecting Silent Auction items for this year’s banquet.

The National Pheasant Fest was held in Des Moines, IA February 26, 27 & 28. Several chapter officers, members and Young Guns Committee members attended the conference. At the national awards program on Saturday night the Illinois Pioneer Chapter was recognized as the ‘2009 No Child Left Indoors’ National Award Recipient for the top youth program in the NATION. Congratulations to the hard work of the so many dedicated Young Guns members, chapter members and the community. The youth on the Young Guns committee deserve recognition for their dedication to the youth program; congratulations to Ben Magers, Brandon Magers, Kirsten Blackford, Emily St. Peter and Matt Scudder.
Dave Kaeding expressed his pride in everyone’s efforts toward this tremendous accomplishment for the Pioneer Chapter. Dave recognized the memory of Ryan Coe as incentive for starting the youth program and that Ryan would be very happy with this accomplishment as well.
Bob Caveny – IL Farm Bill Biologist, attended the meeting. Bob introduced himself and expressed his desire to work with the chapter to put habitat in the field. Bob mentioned that a general signup for CRP would be available sometime in the early summer of this year. Bob said the breakdown of programs available would be 150,000 acres of SAFE, 50,000 acres of duck nesting habitat, 100,000 acres of buffers and field edges (CP-33). Bob will conduct a forum for Landowners and Operators to discuss conservation programs available for their farm. The Forum will be held at the Rantoul Red Wheel from noon to 1:30 pm on March 18 th. Details regarding the banquet were discussed, The Laser Shot system will offered as a silent auction item and gun assignments to the games and raffles were discussed.

Discussed general banquet issues, Andy will provide additional tables and chairs for the banquet.
Andy Bennett discussed acquiring a new pickup truck to use for a year. This would be used to pull laser shot systems and other equipment to various events. Andy proposed selling tickets at $50 each at events throughout the year to cover the cost of the vehicle. The truck would be raffled at the banquet in 2011. Andy will investigate further and discussion will continue.
If the truck acquisition falls through, it was pointed out that mileage should be paid to individuals that pull the equipment to events with their own vehicle.
Todd Coe and Ben Ross are painting the trailer for the Laser Shot Systems. It may be finished in a couple weeks.
Banquet setup will begin on Friday afternoon March 19 th and finish up on Saturday morning.
The next meeting will be on March 15 th at the Roberts Gym.

Dave Kaeding presented Jim Kietzman with a 270 rifle to show appreciation for all his efforts arranging gun acquisition and transfer.
Reviewed the Banquet – 435 people attended, a new high revenue mark was set. Overall banquet went very well.
Discussed banquet items such as; meal went well, earlier meal start time, capacity of Roberts Gym, silent auction items, live auction items, etc. Job assignments should be identified before banquet. Assign list of business for each member to visit earlier.
Discussed bigger host sites within Ford Co. The ITW (Shields) Building was suggested, discussion will continue.
Have roughly 178 memberships including 65 sponsors. Due to pre-payment of membership fees, we can have up to 186 members for no additional cost. It was suggested to offer memberships to some folks that help with events and youth activities through the year. Names and addressed are needed by the end of this week.
Mike Frichtl suggested assigning silent auction sheets before the day of the banquet. Members could fill out sheets with item description to help organization of the silent auction on banquet day.
Andy Bennett motioned to keep the same officers for the upcoming year. Dan Coulter second and the motion carried.
Discussed the idea of holding a Truck Raffle over the next year, the truck would be given away at next year’s banquet. The truck would be used for the Young Guns activities during the year. The idea will be discussed further at next meeting.
Ed Kallal had two portable clay pigeon throwers donated by B & B Guns of Chatsworth.
The next meeting will be the third Monday of May (the 17 th) at Andy Bennett’s.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to our banquet this year. The banquet was a great success and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.

Discussed the Hunters Safety Course held on May 14 & 15 at Kyle and Marla Bleich’s farm. 79 kids attended the course and passed. Dennis Lee and Fred Magers mentioned the Laser Shot System was a great addition to the course. It covered the material well and held the kids attention which helped the kids understand the material. The following day (May 16 also at Bleich’s) 54 kids attended a rifle and bow shoot. Everyone had a good time, it was mentioned that the average age of the kids in attendance was 8 to 10. Thanks for the donations, this greatly helped cover the cost of the events.
The next youth event will be held on July 11 th at Dan Rogers. Check the website for more information as the date approaches.
Discussed details involved with a truck raffle. It was decided to pass on the idea at this time due to costs involved. The taxes for a prize of this nature was more than anticipated. The winner would owe 28% retail value of the vehicle. If the chapter covered the tax to prevent the winner from owing tax, the rate to the chapter would be 42% retail value of the vehicle. Dave Fredrickson motioned to reimburse mileage to individuals on chapter business at 70 cents a mile. The motion was seconded by Dave Foster and passed unanimously.
Fred Magers gave details of a new trailer for the Laser Shot System. The trailer will house the system and have a log cabin exterior and awning. The trailer, material, and time will all be donated. Thanks to all the contributors.
Events for the Laser Shot System were discussed. Dave Foster mentioned an event in the Peoria area. Other events include the Ford Co. Fair, Old Settlers Day, more will be listed later.
Chapter members including Todd Coe, Mike Frichtl, Fred Magers, Brandon Magers, Emily St. Peter and others planted 1500 trees at the property near Todd’s home. Dave Fredrickson volunteered to help water & fertilize the trees and prepare areas for food plots.
Volunteers from our chapter will help McLean Co. PF host a Youth Event on Saturday August 28 th. More information to follow.
Congratulations to Bill Hoffman on his retirement from Paxton First National Bank on May 21 st . An open house for Bill will be held all day Friday at the bank.

Until further notice the Chapter meetings will be held at the Loda Sportsmens Club on the third Monday of each month. Andy Bennett will have a new location to hold the meetings at his building in downtown Paxton. A couple months of cleanup and finishing are needed for the area to be ready.
The next youth event will be held on July 11 th at Dan Rogers. Check the website for more information as the date approaches. 48 reservations so far, a large turnout is expected so extra help will be welcome.
Young Guns will have the Laser Shot System at the Ford Co. Fair July 5 th through the 11 th. Fred Magers will schedule volunteers to run the system during the fair.
We discussed holding a joint meeting with Livingston Co. PF. Dennis Lee will look into the details, he said the joint meeting is usually held in August.
Fred Magers felt it would be wise to purchase a gun safe to store the guns owned through the Young Guns program. Fred said the number of guns owned by Young Guns or donated to the program is approaching 20 guns or so. Having a safe place to store the guns is becoming an issue. Fred also mentioned that the Young Guns youth have undertaken the chore of cleaning all the guns used at the Young Guns shooting events. Be sure to thank the kids for this extra work and they could use some help with this in the future as the number of guns increases.
Dan Coulter motioned to purchase a gun safe, Doug Tucker second the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Fred Mager reported that 4 kids will be attending the Conservation Congress with Mark Miller, Mark is the Illinois DNR director. Also, Fred is getting calls from chapters looking to start a youth program. Ben Magers will talk to several chapters detailing our youth program. Young Guns will help Danville Rifle & Pistol Club put on an event, the Club will help at one of our events in return. Brandon Magers and Bob Caveny will help at a McLean Co. PF event. Fred mentioned that there is growing interest in youth programs and our youth program is seen as the premier example in the area.
Bob Caveny mentioned that the CRP general signup is expected this summer. Also, Bob mentioned the chapter could capture matching funds from DNR for volunteer hours from meetings, events, banquets, etc. The focus would be a wetland project, the next fund assignment period is October 30. We can go back to November 1, 2008, the maximum fund match is $75,000. Also, an idea for a project to utilize the funds needs to be de termined, we will discuss options in the next month or two. Bob will be sending a mailing to SAFE enrollees and schedule one on one meeting to address any questions.

The Fishing Derby was held on July 11 th at Dan Rogers. 149 kids attended, total attendance was over 400 people. Everyone had a great time; highlights included good fishing, good food, good weather (despite a brief shower) and prizes for many participants. Special thanks to Dan Rogers for hosting the event.

The idea of hosting a Conservation Day at one of the Paxton schools was discussed. This is in the formative stages with more details to follow.
Discussed conducting a Hunter Safety Course in mid to late September. More details will be passed along soon.
A Young Guns shooting event is scheduled for August 1 st at the Loda Sportmens Club. Details are available at the Young Guns website, www.pfyoungguns.com.
The Laser Shot System and trailer will be at the Conservation World at the Illinois State Fair August 12 th through the 22 nd. Fred Magers will schedule volunteers to run the system during the fair. Give Fred a call; many volunteers are needed to cover the 11 days the fair will run.
We discussed holding a joint meeting with Livingston Co. PF. Dennis Lee reported the joint meeting will be held on August 16 th at Rooster Heaven, which is located north of Forest Illinois. Look for directions at www.roosterheaven.com.
Dave Kaeding mentioned that Illinois PF will host a display of the banquet package in Peoria on July 21 st. Several people will attend to take advantage of the cost incentives.
Dave also discussed a cost share of expenses with members who attend the National Pheasant Fest meeting. This was tabled for further discussion. Dave mentioned our need to identify new members of the Young Guns Youth Council in the near future. We discussed the Fund Match that Bob Caveny highlighted at last month’s meeting. Aaron Kuehl took over duties of Matt Bradshaw following Matt’s resignation. A replacement for the position is planned in the near future. Fred Magers mentioned the Guns Save Lives group offered to pay a large share of the Laser Shot Trailer expenses. In exchange, the group’s name will be displayed on the trailer.
Mike Frichtl is working on grants for habitat projects. Contact Mike with a list of your seed, trees and habitat needs asap.
Holding gun raffles throughout the year was discussed. It was felt, this would be an excellent way to fund some of our summer youth activies.
Todd Coe mentioned we need youth arrows for upcoming archery events. Contact Todd with information about a good supplier.

Ed Kallal reported from the IL PF/QF State meeting held January 17 th in Bloomington, IL. The Ford Co. Chapter received a plaque for $750,000 dollars of habitat established in the 24 years of the chapters existence. This was the third highest dollar amount among chapters in the state of Illinois.
Discussed a few ideas for new games and money making ideas for this years banquet.
Ed suggested we look into getting name tags made for officers and members attending meetings. It was suggested to check with vendors around the area for this. Trophy Time in Champaign charges $5.50 per name tag.
Discussed changes to the Banquet Program, including guns on hand and to be ordered, and any changes in the games and raffles offered.
Gerry Rodeen discussed updates for the sponsor letter. The first year of the Young Guns program will be highlighted in the letter. There were 8 functions sponsored by the chapter this year, 1 fishing, 1 hunting, 5 shooting and a safety course. The chapter spent $21,123 dollars to support these activities.

Next months meetings will be on February 2 nd and February 16 th. The banquet mailing will be prepared on the February 16 th meeting.

The Youth Advisory Board met for the first time to discuss future Young Gun’s activities. The Youth Advisory Board consisted of several youths from the area (one young lady came from the Watseka area) that participated in activities last year. Their input will help shape future activities.
A hunters safety course is scheduled for April 17 th and 18 th at the Loda Sportsman’s Club.
A Young Guns event is scheduled for Sunday April 19 th at the Loda Sportsman’s Club, more information about the event will follow.
Future activities will be detailed at the Young Guns website: www.pfyoungguns.com. This site is presently under construction, however, the site will have information for upcoming events and photos and activity details from past events.
Several newspapers in the area ran an article detailing the Young Guns Program.
Banquet details were discussed.
Concerns included changing seating arrangement to accommodate more capacity. The menu will be the same as last year. Servers will dish out the meal for the first time through the food line.
Discussed the possibility of auctioning off the Gator at the banquet. The idea met with a positive response, the details will be discussed further to determine the feasibility of this.

Fred Magers and Dave Kaeding mentioned reporting youth activities for the past year to Matt Bradshaw. Matt would pass on this report to National PF for chapter recognition.
Dennis Lee will arrange for a joint meeting with the Livingston Co. PF chapter. He expected this meeting would be held in late July or early August. Contact chapter officers or check the website for more information.

Discussed Ryan Coe Memorial fishing derby on July 12. Event was held at Dan Rogers property west of Loda, 118 kids attended. The day went very well, great weather, good food and everyone enjoyed the fishing. Thanks to everyone for making this a great success.
Dennis Lee has arranged a joint meeting with the Livingston Co. PF chapter on August 10th. The meeting will be held near Saybrook, IL. Contact chapter officers or check the website for more information.
State Pheasants Forever meetings July 27, 28 & 29. Early look at the 2010 banquet package.
Pheasant Fest 2010 is February 26, 27 & 28 in Des Moines, IA.
Gerry Rodeen motioned to make a $1000 donation to the Legislative Action Fund. Andy Bennett second the motion and it was passed with a unanimous vote.
Mike Frichtl would like to know ahead of time about any habitat projects for next year. Mike can get trees and seed through grants if he knows what the needs will be well ahead of time.

Discussed the Young Guns Shoot on September 13. The event ran from noon to 4 pm, 79 kids attended and enjoyed several shooting stations and setting. The weather for the day was perfect and allowed everyone to enjoy the day. A big thanks goes out to Monical’s Pizza of Paxton for donating 35 pizzas along with bread sticks and salad, needless to say, everyone enjoyed the food.
Todd Coe discussed a future youth related project. Todd and Dave Woolridge have 40 acres that will be dedicated to youth activities. The property is located next of Todd’s property. Much of the habitat needs updating on this property and plans were discussed to have work days for burning and tree planting next spring. Young Guns members would be encouraged to participate in the work days. Access to the property will be for youth activities only, the property would be excellent for youth to experience hunting first hand.
The Loda Sportsmens Club will sponsor two Young Guns Shoots next year. Thank You.
A habitat project with Jason Johnson was discussed. The chapter agreed to cost share the project. It is 22 acres of filter strips, Jerry Heinz will assist with the project.
The chapter discussed acquiring signs to post on habitat projects.
100 tickets at $20 each will be raffled off for the PF Cruise. The Cruise is next February.
Dave Keading, Ed Kallal and Mike Frichtl will look into ordering the banquet package for next March.
The Laser Shot system was demonstrated, this is an interactive system to allow users to experience hunting situations and hunter safey. Everyone was impressed with is capabilities. Meeting adjourned |
IL Pioneer Pheasants Forever Chapter October 19, 2009 Meeting Notes
Kaeding called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.
Cruise Tickets are available for sale. We are only selling 100 tickets. 1 ticket for $20 or 2 tickets for $30. The drawing will be held at the Chili Supper & Shoot on November 6, 2009 at the Loda Sportsman Club.
The Chili Supper and Shoot will start at 4 pm November 6, 2009. Shooting will go from 4 to 8 pm. Gun and cruise drawings held thereafter.
Ben Magers is now on National Pheasants Forever Youth Council. Congrats to Ben. Also congrats to Kristen Blackford and Ben for being appointed to the IL State Youth Council.
Dave has reserved 7 hotel rooms for Pheasant Fest in Des Moines, IA February 26-28, 2010. Several folks are going. If anyone else would like to go please talk to Dave.
Bradshaw will order the Banquet Package for the chapter 2010 Banquet.
The banquet is scheduled for March 20, 2010 at the Roberts Gym in Roberts. Discussion of banquet guns proceeded. Motion by Bennett, second by Ed to make a $3,000 contribution to the Pheasants Forever Legislative Action Fund. In return the chapter would receive a Fausti Stefano 12 gauge O/U shot gun ($1,500 value) to use for the “banquet gun” in 2010. Motion passed.
$800 was received from the Merrell Adams memorial.
Youth hunt – Discussion was held regarding the need to have the event both days on 10-24 & 25-09. It was decided to hold the hunt on Sunday only at Green Acres Hunt Club.

This months meeting was held at the Roberts Gym. Discussed possible layouts for the banquet and toured the kitchen and other facilities. It was felt we will gain the room we need for this years banquet.
Mike and Kim Frichtl won the PF Cruise. Congratulations you two, have a great time.
Discussed the possibility of Dick’s Sporting Goods donating some items for the banquet. Mike Frichtl mentioned the manager expressed an interest in helping the chapter for the banquet. Dave Kaeding mentioned Dick’s has already been helpful with the purchase of several items for youth activities. Some items include deer, turkey, pig, and coyote targets as well as BB gun and bow and arrow supplies.
The State PF convention will be held January 22 and 23 in Peoria at the Paradise Casino. Registration is $75 and is due before January 1, 2010.
Additional items for the banquet were discussed. Items included were food setup, liquor purchase and bar tenders, and additional items for the drawings.
Dave Kaeding mentioned he would get tickets printed for the Big Banquet Gun soon.
Fred Magers mentioned some work was needed for the trailer, including cleanup and painting and 4 new tires. He also mentioned we needed to find an additional trailer 12 to 14 foot. If any one knows of a trailer available to buy, let us know.

Minutes for meeting on 1-21-08.

Opener Shoot on November 3, 2007 was discussed. The chapter netted $900. A gun was raffled, chili was available for donations, and 40 rounds of sporting clays were shot. Roughly 80 people attended. Event will continue next year. Suggestions included adding art print raffles and tip boards.
Farm Bill CP 38 was discussed – Matt Bradshaw said roughly 20,000 acres are available with this program. Habitat would be focused around the habitat wheels.
Suggestions were discussed regarding improving existing habitat and expanding habitat into desirable areas.
Purdueville site rent will not be paid by the chapter this year.
Mike Frichtl asked for a count of trees to be ordered for habitat projects.
Prepare 3000 tickets, 600 mailing list, discuss guns with Jim Kietzman.
The Banquet originally scheduled for March 22 nd at the Krouse Center will be rescheduled for March 29 th to avoid any conflicts with Easter which is on the 23 rd.
Suggestions for the Banquet included:
- Pay for kids PF membership with banquet attendence, if first time members. - Start serving food earlier – 5:30 pm was suggested. - Similar menu, possibly include dessert. - Conduct a live auction for gun cases containing a gun, value of guns in the cases would range from high to low. - Andy and Matt will get the banquet package together. - Meetings will be held on the 1 st and 3 rd Mondays of each month leading up to the banquet. - Possibly include a TV as one of the giveaway items, discuss next meeting.
Gerry Rodeen gave a pep talk about the future of the chapter.

Young Guns Program – Start with youth shoots at the Loda Sportsmen Club and Green Acres. Ages 10 through high school would be included. Information will be included in the banquet mailer.
Guns are ordered, most are in; 26 guns ordered at $7700. We will have the 5 gun raffle, will decide on the guns for next weeks mailing.
Discussed games and guns to be assigned to each game. Games include:
Shell game, Pheasant Drop, Reverse Bingo, Box Game etc.
Guns to be assigned for Big Gun raffle, contractor gun, youth gun, ladies raffle, reverse bingo, box game, and suggested a Free gun to veterans.
Participate in Toby Brown fund raiser for his nine year old daughter who suffered a stroke. Donations of hats and an art print were suggested.
Discussed funding a Pheasant Forever sign at the Buckley and Paxton Little League ball fields. Signs would cost around $200. Information on the Young Guns Program would be incorporated into the sign.

Reviewed the Banquet – approximately 285 people attended, a new high revenue mark was set. Overall banquet went very well.
Dave Fredrickson suggested raffles not be called during the meal to prevent delays in the meal line.
Gerry Rodeen suggested we collect email addresses in next years banquet letter. Also, suggested we explore online registration for next years banquet.
Matt Scudder was the first Young Guns winner of a shotgun. Congratulations.
Dean McAllister with the National Turkey Federation is interested in collaborating with our chapter on the Young Guns Program.
A Hunters Safety Course was suggested for July 25-26. Suggest site was the Loda Sportsmens Club.
Registration forms for the Young Guns Program were suggested to be circulated in the Paxton and Gibson City newspapers.
The first planning meeting for the Young Guns Program will be held at Andy Bennett’s on the first Monday in May.
$3000 was raised for the Young Guns Program at the banquet. A motion was made and seconded to donate an additional $7065 to the Young Guns Program to increase the fund level to an even $10,000. The funds for the Young Guns Program will be maintained separately from the chapter budget.
Dean Blackford mentioned a 20 to 40 acre tract of land near his property may come up for sale soon. Favorable interest in the chapter pursuing purchase of the land was expressed.
Mike Frichtl reported the tree order had arrived, he would place a seed order this week. He also mentioned two land owners interested in establishing food plots.
Dan Coulter suggested chapter send and pay for representatives to attend the State PF Convention May 2 nd and 3 rd in Springfield at the Crown Plaza Convention Center, motion was seconded by Dennis Lee.
Next years banquet was set for March 21 st at the Kruse Center.
Chris Engelbrecht of Fire Pit Grills will donate grill to be raffled off at next years banquet.

A motion was made to earmark $35,000 of chapter funds to support the Young Guns program. Dan Coulter first the motion, it was second by Andy Bennett and the motion passed by a unanimous vote.
In discussion of this motion the Chapter’s current balance was roughly $65,000. A point was made that roughly $25,000 is needed to put on the annual banquet.
Discussed the Pheasant Opener shoot which will be on Halloween this year, October 31.

A $300 donation was made to the Big Brother & Big Sister organization to support their efforts.
The banquet package was ordered. A Super Black Eagle II was ordered for the big gun raffle at this year’s banquet.
A cruise package was ordered to be raffled, more detail will be provided soon.

45 kids, ages 8 to 12 years of age, attended the Young Guns Rifle Shoot held on November 16 th. Activities included .22 rifle target shooting, tree stand safety, deer field dressing demonstration (video).
The Youth Hunt was held on October 26 th at the Green Acre Hunting Club near Roberts. Nearly 30 youngsters participated in the activities.
There are no Young Guns activities planned for a couple months. Activities will resume sometime in the spring probably around April.
Dave Kaeding mentioned efforts are underway to find shells for future hunts at a reduced price.
Discussed the banquet, at least 20 guns will be given away through raffles or drawings, the menu will be similar to last years with Dave Fredrickson doing the catering.
There will be no meeting next month, our next meetings will be on January 5 th and January 19 th. We’ll begin focus on the banquet at that time.
