2020

Minutes for chapter meeting on 1-7, 1-21-2020 at Monical’s.

 1-7 & 1-21-2020

 Dave Kaeding introduced Katie Beckemeyer, Katie is working with Illinois Pheasants Forever and specializes in Wetland development.

 Dallas Glazik discussed the new CRP signup period, landowners may apply through February 28th

 Brandon Magers discussed the High School Shooting Team.  After a year off, this year’s team will resume practice around early April.

 Ben Magers discussed a new grill being built in Tennessee by Piggy Back Smokers.  The grill should be finished by the end of February.

 Evan Bristle will be working with Jason Bleich on a habitat seeding project with the Paxton Park District.  The chapter will be supporting some of the seeding cost of the project, Jason thought the chapters share will be around $500.

 Dave Kaeding discussed a new Kabota ATV side by side that has been purchased by the chapter.  The ATV will be used on chapter projects for seeding and spraying operations.

 The IL State PF meetings will be held on January 24th and 25th in Bloomington IL.  The Pioneer Chapter will be well represented at the event, chapter members and Young Guns members will be present at the meeting. 

 Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 21, 2020 at the Roberts Gym.  Guns and games were discussed.  A final decision will be made next meeting.

 Upcoming events discussed were;  Thawville Community Sale Saturday April 18th 7 am to 2 pm, Ford Co. Fair is June 14th to 20th.

 The next meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 4th at Monical’s.

 Envelopes for the March 21st banquet were stuffed and prepared for mailing to Chapter Members.

2-11-2020

 Brandon Magers went over the lists of Sponsors and Friends from last year’s banquet program. 

 A few banquet items were discussed.  The 5 gun drawing will include;  Tri-Star Cobra 2, Judge, SS Stoeger, Henry Big Boy 357, Smith & Wesson M&P 40 cal.

 The next meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25th at Monical’s.

2-25-2020

 Dave Kaeding discussed chapter volunteers will fry fish at the Loda Sportsmen Club meeting on March 17th.  This is a thank you for all the support the Loda Sportsmen Club provides our chapter.

 Fred Magers, Dave Kaeding and Ben Magers made a trip to Tennessee to pick up a new grill for the chapter.  The grill will be used at the banquet and other chapter activities.

 The group went over the list of sponsors and thank you’s.  A motion was made to recognize Monical’s with a silver sponsor and Jason Mills with a silver sponsor for all the support to our chapter.  Brandon Magers first the motion and Kurt Edwards second, the motion passed unanimously.

 3-10-20

 The group began editing and updating the program for the 2020 banquet.

 The list of sponsors and thank you’s were reviewed and updated

 Dallas Glazik and Jason Bleich discussed the meetings held on March 2nd in Roberts.  They discussed the wetland and CRP projects in the area. 

 Dallas Glazik reported the new Air Seeder has been used and worked very well.  So far 70 acres have been seeded.

 Dallas Glazik discussed the chapter acquiring a sprayer to be used with the chapters ATV.  Dallas said the sprayer will be purchased with chapter funds and an equipment grant with Pheasants Forever.  This sprayer will be a valuable tool to aid habitat establishment.

 Brandon Magers discussed the High School Shooting Team.  The team will practice and the LSC on Friday nights and will begin the first week of April.

 Dave Kaeding discussed the games and raffles that will be conducted at the banquet.  Dave mentioned this is the Chapters 35th anniversary and 35 guns will be given away.

 The next meeting will be held after the banquet at Monical’s.

 
   
   
   
   

2019

Minutes for chapter meeting on 1-9-19 at Monical’s.

 The IL State PF meetings will be held on February 23rd from 9 to 11:15 am in Schaumburg IL.  The Pioneer Chapter will be well represented at the event, chapter members and Young Guns members will be present at the meeting. 

 National Pheasant Fest is February 22, 23 & 24 in Schaumburg, IL.  A group of chapter members and Young Guns members will attend Pheasant Fest to participate in the Youth Village at Pheasant Fest, the group will depart on Thursday the 21st.

 Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 16, 2019 at the Roberts Gym.  Adding a sponsor level at $500 was discussed, it would include additional prizes for this level.  A final decision will be made next meeting.

 Upcoming events discussed were;  the Cash Bash in Gibson City on March 2nd at the Cruse Center, Ford Co. Fair Cash Bash, Thawville Community Sale Saturday April 20th 7 am to 2 pm, Ford Co. Fair is June 23rd to 29th.

 Hunters Safety Course was discussed for 16 and under, a 4 hour course on line for adults. 

 Several habitat projects and grants were discussed to be aware of in the beginning of 2019.

 The next meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22nd at Monical’s.

Minutes for chapter meeting on 3-27-19.

 Reviewed the Banquet – 364 people attended, roughly 170 memberships including 80 sponsors.

 Discussed banquet items such as; meal, games, drawings and auction.  For the most part, everything went well.  All games sold very well and quickly.  The new wall of guns raffle sold four cycles of 50 tickets each.  The Orca cooler raffle sold well again this year (it sold out), this pays for the chapters Young Guns endowment to Midway USA plus a little profit.  Dave mentioned that the attendance and revenue for the 2019 banquet were nearly the best ever for our Chapter.

 Improvements for next year’s banquet were discussed.  One major problem was reorganizing the trailers after the banquet and reloading the supplies in a systematic fashion.

 The next event will be the Foosland Youth Shoot held on April 14th.  More information to come.

On April 20th the Thawville Community Sale from 7 am to 2 pm.  We need at least 8 people.

 Next year’s officers were discussed.  Brandon Magers motioned for Dave Kaeding to be chapter President for next year, Brandon 1st and Chad Riggleman 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Dave Kaeding motioned for Brandon Magers to be chapter Vice President for next year, JT Grady 1st and Kurt Edwards 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Dave Kaeding motioned for Ralph/Cheri Esgar to be Secretary / Treasurer for next year, Fred Magers 1st and JT Grady 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Todd Lee was appointed Banquet Chair, Jason Bleich, Dallas Glazik and Dennis Lee will be co-Habitat Chairs.

 The next meeting time was not discussed.

Minutes for chapter meeting on 6-11-19.

 President Dave Kaeding started the meeting with a discussion about the IDOT / CRP planting that will run from Roberts to Thawville.  The total acreage will be about 15 acres.  The chapter agreed to contribute $2000 to the project to cover some of the seed costs.  Also, the chapter has acquired an Air Seeder with the help of a matching grant from Pheasants Forever, the chapters share was approximately $8200.

 Chad Riggleman discussed the Cruise Roberts event that will be held on July 20th from 3 to 8 pm.  Chad requested help from the group to cook hamburgers and hot dogs for approximately 100 people.  Contact Chad if you would like to help.

 The Fishing Derby will be held on July 13th at Dan Rogers’s property west of Loda, IL.  Watch for more information in the next few weeks.

 The Ford Co Fair was discussed.  The fair will run from June 23rd to the 29th.  The chapter will run the food concession stand at the fair during this time.  Anyone that can help would be welcome.  Contact chapter officers if you are interested in helping.

 A celebration of life in honor of Jerry Bleich at the Roberts Gym is scheduled for this coming weekend.  A motion was made for the chapter to buy the meat for the event, Chad Riggleman 1st and Ben Magers 2nd, the motion passed unanimously.

 Roberts Car Show was discussed.  Lisa and Fred Magers discussed Dan Irkhe’s appearance at the Illinois State Fair.

 The new Air Seeder has been working well.  Also taking bids for a new ATV sprayer.

 Fred and Lisa attended the Lincoln Heritage Banquet in Mattoon.  Some new ideas for our banquet were discussed.

 Dave discussed our gun inventory ahead of the next banquet.

 The chapter sent a thank you card to RTD Auto for repairing the drill for no charge.

 Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 17, 2018 at the Roberts Gym.  A Browning A5 12 ga 3.5” chamber Realtree Max-5 DT Camo shotgun will be the banquet gun.  The popular 5-gun raffle will also be offered, a raffle for a PF Lifetime Membership OR Illinois Lifetime Hunting License, the Early Bird raffle if you rsvp before March 15th, a total of at least 25 guns will be given away plus many games and activities.

Minutes for the PF Chapter meeting held on 2-27-18 at Monical’s.

National Pheasant Fest was February 16, 17 & 18 in Sioux Falls, SD.  Brandon Magers reported on the trip that included a group of chapter members and Young Guns members.  The event went very well; it was the 2nd highest attendance at the annual Pheasant Fest event.  Brandon reported four people drove to the event with Young Guns members and the Young Guns equipment.  Brandon suggested that the chapter reimburse these four individuals for their fuel expenditure.  Pete St. Peter motioned to reimburse fuel costs to the four drivers, John Grady first and Mike Frichtl second.  The motion passed unanimously.  Next year’s Pheasant Fest will be held in Schaumburg, IL on February 22, 23 & 24.

 Jason Bleich reported there will be a Youth Pollinator and Conservation Event held on March 16th at GCMS Middle School, 815 N Church St, Gibson City, IL.  Illinois Pioneer Pheasants Forever, Gibson City Middle School and partners will host two 2-hour long sessions with start times of 9 am and 12:30 pm.  Find more information from Katie Kauzlarich at 309-264-1678 or kkauzlarich@pheasantsforever.org.

 Jason mentioned that the event organizers were seeking sponsors for the event and needed $800 to $1000 to fully fund the event.  Jeff Polson motioned to fund the event up to $1000, Dennis Lee first and Ralph Esgar second.  The motion passed unanimously.

 Brandon discussed the National Youth Council, Sage Ihrke will be completing her participation this year.  Brandon mentioned that Evan Bristle may be interested in joining the Youth Council next year.  Ben Magers discussed creating an Alumni Council of previous National Youth Council members.  Ben was seeking ideas to raise money for the Alumni Council.

 Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 17, 2018 at the Roberts Gym. 

 This will be the last meeting before the banquet.

 Jason Bleich discussed a youth shoot on April 8th.  Clay pigeons with seed embedded in them will be shot to scatter over the shoot location.  Call Jason for more information.

 Jason also said a drill was available from the Fish & Wildlife Service if the chapter was interested.  The group felt it would be a good idea to obtain this drill if possible. Jason was going to look into details.

 Jason discussed a wetlands project titled “Wet Wings” that was being planned for the area near Green Acres Sportsmen Club.  6 neighboring chapters were planning to donate funds to support the project.  The group discussed the project and felt that up to $4000 would be appropriate for our chapter to contribute to the project.  This amount was settled on due to the location of the project in Ford Co. and the land owners past support of the chapters activities.  Kurt Edwards motioned to the fund the wetlands project up to $4000, Brandon Magers 1st and JT Grady 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.

Minutes for meeting on 8-21-18.

Members present: Dave Kaeding, Christy Wallace, Ralph & Cheri Esgar, Mike Frichtl, Jeff Polson, Dennis & Donna Lee, Todd & Jesse Lee, Amy & Emily Lee, Jason Bleich.

The Ford Co. Fair - Food Stand, was run by Young Guns & chapter members from June 24th to the 30th.  Dave Kaeding said the stand went very well, it was the best year “money wise” the chapter has had at the fair.

 Dave reported the Shooting Team has completed competition for the year.  The team had 15 regular shooters and all performed very well.  Evan Bristle shot 72 straight, quite an accomplishment.

 Dave reported the chapter is participating in a 50/50 habitat grant to acquire an Air-Seeder and Sprayer through the grant.  If money remains in the grant at the end of the ordering process more money will be assigned to each participants order, in other words, the grant could end up covering 80% or more of the seeder and sprayer.

 Jason Bleich reported that the wetland project at Bob Watson’s, George Ihrke’s and Dan Rogers is in progress.  The project has completed work on Bob Watson’s property and work will begin on George Ihrke’s property next.  Jason also mentioned that CRP acres enrolled in Ford Co. has risen from around 3,000 acres in 2013 to over 10,000 acres in 2018 with 400 to 500 more acres possible before the end of 2018.  Great news for the pheasants and wildlife in the area!!

 Upcoming Events:

 September 4th – Dove Hunt at Dan Rogers property

 September 15th – White Co. Youth Day

 October 7th – Fishing Derby at Dan Rogers property (tentative date)

 October 8th – Rooster Madness at Green Acres Sportsmen Club (tentative date)

 Dave mentioned that Ken Abraham’s wife passed away recently and the chapter sent flowers for her funeral.  Ken called Dave to thank the chapter for the flowers and support.

Also, Otis Kirchhofer donated prints and mugs back to the chapter as he and his wife are moving to a smaller home.

 Next meeting will be September 17th.

 Dave reported the passing of Dick Wyatt.  Dick had worked with the chapter on many occasions in the past.  He helped with banquet preparations and event organization.  He was passionate about Pheasants Forever and will be missed.

 December 9th – Youth Hunt at Green Acres Sportsmen Club

 Purchase of a 6 row narrow 800 series planter was discussed at an abbreviated meeting on Jan. 9.  Members agreed with purchasing the planter from Marvin Onken for $850.  Dave Kaeding reported that the planter was purchased for the terms listed and is at Dave’s shed.

 Discussion of who could use the planter followed; it was suggested that anyone using the planter should be a PF member (or become one) and a donation would be suggested also.  Fred Magers 1st the motion and Brandon Magers second, the motion passed unanimously.

 Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Roberts Gym.

 We hope to stuff envelopes for the banquet mailing next meeting.

 The next meeting will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 26th at Monical’s.

 JT Grady reported that National Pheasant Fest went very well.  29 kids and adults made the trip to Pheasant Fest.  New contacts were made with individuals interested in youth activities.  Our chapter is leading the way with efforts to develop youth programs.

 Banquet details were discussed.  Game and raffle assignments will be made next meeting; help for the kitchen; the beef has been ordered; hats and knives have been ordered; discussed having a puppy on the live auction.

 Dean Blackford discussed 40 acres for sale from the Pleasant Grove Church.  The possibility of the chapter purchasing the property was considered, the amount of funds required for the purchase would seem to make it unlikely the chapter could buy the property outright.  The possibility of making it a wetland project was discussed, Jason Bleich said he would look into this option and report back at a later date.

 Jason Bleich informed the group of an 80 acre CRP project on the Ford / McClean co. line that will be seeded this spring.  Most costs will be covered by various grants leaving only $400 to be covered by the land owners.  It was purposed that Ford and McClean Co. PF split the land owner cost at $200 each.  Chapter members discussed project and agreed to support the project.

 The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Roberts Gym.

 A few new games were discussed.  Lisa Magers said a fishing stringer with 10 $10 lottery tickets was sold as a card raffle and was well received at the State PF meeting.  A Scope was discussed to be included on the Live Auction.

 Prints were discussed for inclusion on the live auction. 

 Dave Kaeding mentioned the passing of two chapter members in the past year, Ed Kallal and Ray Cleary.  Dave thought it would be fitting to have a moment of silence in their memory.

 The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Roberts Gym.

 Reviewed the Banquet – 365 people attended, roughly 150 memberships including 70 sponsors.  Overall banquet went very well.

 Discussed banquet items such as; meal, games, drawings and auction.  For the most part, everything went well.  The audio equipment in the gym needs to be improved before next year.  Either the gym needs to upgrade the sound equipment or we have equipment brought in for the banquet. 

 Next year’s officers were discussed.  Brandon Magers motioned for Dave Kaeding to be chapter President for next year, Lisa Magers 1st and Moe Morris 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Dave Kaeding motioned for Brandon Magers to be chapter Vice President for next year, JT Grady 1st and Kurt Edwards 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Dave Kaeding motioned for Ralph/Cheri Esgar to be Secretary / Treasurer for next year, Brandon Magers 1st and Jeff Blackford 2nd and the motion passed unanimously.  Todd Lee was appointed Banquet Chair, Jason Bleich and Dennis Lee will be co-Habitat Chairs.

 Jeff Blackford discussed a certified wing shooting clinic to be held at Kickapoo State Park with the Champaign Co. PF as a co-sponsor.  Jeff said they were looking for more sponsors for the event and wondered if IL Pioneer would also sponsor.  The issue was tabled for further discussion.

 Dates were discussed for Hunter Safety classes, Fishing Derby, and the Ford Co. Fair.  More information will follow from the next meeting.

 The PF chapter will be running a concession stand at the Ford Co. Fair.  The group discussed details regarding the Ford Co. Fair, including work schedule, food items, setup times, and other issues.  The fair runs from June 25th to July 1st.  Come by and help at the Illinois Pioneer-Pheasants Forever Concession Stand or buy lunch or supper at the concession stand to support PF activities in Ford Co.

 Lisa Magers said the Shooting Team will be in Sparta this weekend June 24th and 25th

 A group of Young Guns will help with the Gibson City Fishing Derby on Sunday July 9th, the event starts at 1 pm. 

 Our annual Fishing Derby will be held at Dan Rogers property on Saturday July 15th, more information will follow.

Minutes for meeting on 9-18-17.

 Dave and Brandon reported there was low turnout of kids participating in the chapter sponsored dove hunt at Dan Roger’s property.  They mentioned many kids had conflicts with Labor Day weekend.  Brandon said the sunflowers were in good condition for the dove hunt and bird numbers were good.  Dan has indicated he would like to continue the dove hunt next year.

 Illinois Pioneer PF and Dan Rogers entered into this dove hunting project to provide Young Gun members and other local youth the opportunity to experience dove hunting.  Dove hunting provides very challenging shooting in a setting that is conducive for young hunters to experience many shooting opportunities while under adult supervision.

 A hunter safety course was discussed.  Dates considered were October 27th or November 3rd.  More information will follow.

 Dates for Rooster Madness and the Youth Pheasant hunt were discussed.  More information will follow.

Minutes for chapter meeting on 1-25-16 at Monical’s.

The state PF conference was held Jan 22 & 23 at the Par-A-Dice hotel in East Peoria.  The Pioneer Chapter was well represented at the Saturday evening banquet.  The chapter received the “Founding Fathers Award”.  The chapter pledged $1000 to the Legislative Action Fund and $3000 to the No Child Left Indoors program.  Dan Ihrke along with chapter youth members lead a session teaching kids to train dogs.

National Pheasant Fest is February 19, 20 & 21 in Kansas City, MO.  A group of chapter members and Young Guns members will attend Pheasant Fest to participate in the Youth Village at Pheasant Fest. The Laser Shot and Fishing Simulator systems will be trucked to the event. 

Plans for the chapter banquet were discussed.  The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 19, 2016 at the Roberts Gym.

We hope to stuff envelopes for the banquet mailing next meeting.

The next meeting will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday 2nd at Monical’s.

 Brandon Magers discussed the upcoming High School Shooting Team events.  The team will practice starting soon at LSC.  There will be 15 to 20 team members this year.  Not many competitions are scheduled at this time, Brandon hopes more will be known soon.

 Brandon Magers and Dave Kaeding informed the group of a seeding project with IDOT in Ford Co.  Local IDOT employees would like to seed road sides in the wider roadway areas within the county in a habitat planting beneficial to wildlife.  They asked the chapter to support the project at roughly $100 per acre.  Chapter members discussed ideal locations for the plantings and the amount of acres.  The group approved 10 to 20 acres with the locations to be discussed further.  Andy Bennett made the motion to approve, Ralph Esgar first and Mike Frichtl second.  Motion pass unanimously.

 Dave Kaeding discussed the Ford Co. Fair.  Dates are June 16th to the 24th.  The chapter has been invited to cook for the fair sponsors on Friday night of the fair. 

 The Fish Fry at LSC is scheduled for Thursday March 17th.  Young Gun’s and the High School Shooting Team Members will prepare a fish dinner for Sportsmen’s Club members.  This is in appreciation of all the help the LSC provides to the PF Chapter and the Shooting Team.

 The Chapter’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday March 19, 2016 at the Roberts Gym.

 The sponsor shoot at Green Acres Sportsmen Club was held on April 3rd.  Nearly 40 participants enjoyed good food and a good day of hunting. 

 The Young Guns kids will be involved with a Fishing Derby on May 15th in the Gibson City Area.  This is independent of our Fishing Derby held at Dan Roger’s property near Loda in the July time frame.  Contact chapter members for more information

 Brandon Magers reported on the Fishing Derby held at the Gibson City Fishing Lake on May 15th.  62 kids from the Gibson City area participated in the event.  140 total people attended the event.  Brandon said the day went very well.

 Jason Bleich reported the IDOT habitat project was complete, 10 acres were seeded in the area.  The Bayles Lake, PBL and Al Barns habitat projects were in progress.

 Sage Ihrke attended the Focus on Forever meeting held at Potosi, MO.  Topics covered included Pollinator Habitat projects, wing shooting and dog training.

 The High School Shooting Team will be competing at the Sparta Shooting Facility on June 25th & 26th.

 Home Town Heros are conducting a fund raiser for 2 local veterans.  Fred Magers motioned for the chapter to donate 2 prints for the event.  Todd Lee second and the motion passed unanimously.

 Ford Co. Fair will run from June 19th to the 26th .  The chapter will be running the concession stand again this year.  Contact chapter members if you would like to help.

Minutes for meeting on 7-18-16.

 Fred Magers reported that Ross Fogel requested chapter members to assist a fellow chapter with information on running a banquet.  Fred said the date was September 24th, more details to follow.

 The chapter acquiring a 4-row planter for various habitat plantings was discussed.  $1500 has been approved to buy the planter.  Dan Rogers will assist and store the planter once it is acquired.  Efforts will continue to locate an appropriate planter.

 Young Guns and chapter members conducted a fund raiser on June 10th at Paxton Hardware & Rental.  Young Guns members ran a food stand that featured ribs & pork burgers along with other grilled items.  $1560 was raised to fund youth activities at Sparta Shooting Facility by chapter youth participants.

 Brandon Magers reported the chapter youth participants at Sparta performed very well.  Katie Pierce, Sage Ihrke and Drew Riggleman finished 2nd in Open Sporting Clays.  Kaleb Harshbarger finished 2nd in Open Skeet.  Katie Pierce participated in a National Shooting event and performed very well.

 Triston & Sage Ihrke participated in the PF National Youth Leadership Council meeting in Wyoming on July 15th weekend.  The Ihrke’s travel expenses to get the kids to the meeting was discussed.  Ralph Esgar motioned to support each kid with $200 toward travel expenses to attend the meeting.  Chad Riggleman second and the motion passed unanimously.

 Katie Pierce’s participation in several shooting competitions on the National level was discussed.  Chapter members discussed creating a chapter Shooting Scholarship and naming Katie the 2016 recipient of the $250 scholarship.  Dave Kaeding motioned to award Katie Pierce with this year’s scholarship, Fred Magers second and the motion passed unanimously.

 58 kids participated in this year’s Fishing Derby held at Dan Rogers property on July 17th.  Brandon Magers reported that a 26” catfish was the biggest catch of the day, all the kids in attendance enjoyed a fun day of fishing and good food.

 The Ford Co. Food Stand, ran by Young Guns & chapter members, grossed over $7500 this year.  The food stand was run by Young Guns & chapter members from June 19th to the 25th

 Ralph Esgar presented the minutes from the meeting on November 17th.  A motion was made to approve the minutes, Fred Magers first and Moe Morris second, the motion passed unanimously.

 Jason Bleich reported the Ihrke Habitat Project has been completed.

 Discussed banquet items such as; meal, games, drawings and auction.  For the most part, everything went well.  The kids drawing will be moved up to the beginning of the banquet next year and the child must be present to win.  Need to have more spotters in the crowd for the live auction. May need to think of  a better way to distribute cups & mugs, some were being taken as folks left the gym. 

 A motion to keep the same officers as last year was made.  John Grady first and Fred Magers second, motion passed unanimously.

 Jason Bleich reported on a habitat project at the Railside Golf course near Gibson City.

30 acres of habitat will be planted this spring with the assistance of the chapter.

 Andy Bennett suggested a habitat project needs to be initiated in honor of Gerry Rodeen.  The group agreed and Jason said signage will be placed on the habitat project in Gibson City and Gerry’s name could be associated with this project.  Dave Kaeding suggested to discuss the options further.

 Dave mentioned a need for seed for food plots.  Brandon Magers said he would look into some contacts to located seed if possible.

 A Hunter Safety Course will be held Friday and Saturday May 8th and 9th at Bachman’s.

 Fred Magers discussed the Coles Co. Fair and Tractor Pull.  Dates are July 17-19, possibly taking the Lazer Shot Trailer and Air Rifle Trailer. 

 Also members may be involved with the Tazewell Co Fair on July 27-29.

 Plans were discussed for the Ford Co. Fair and the Illinois State Fair.  More information will follow in coming weeks.

 5 or 6 habitat projects are underway in the area.  More updates at the next meeting.

 Sunflower planting was discussed.  Several plantings are planned to allow youth dove hunts to occur in September.

 Lisa Magers discussed the Antique Car and Tractor show at the Coles Co Fairgrounds in Charleston.  Dates are July 17-19, a group of chapter members and Young Guns members will attend and take the Log Cabin and Air Rifle Trailer to the event.

 The chapter had the Laser Shot & Fish Simulator systems at the State Fair in Conservation World.  Due to the late date of this year’s fair, proceeds from the games and a gun raffle were very low.  Thanks goes out to everyone who volunteered time during the fair.

 Roughly 25 kids participated in Dove hunting at Dan Roger’s property.  It was a very good experience for the kids and Dan would like to continue the Dove hunt next year.

 Several chapter members will participate in a youth event in White Co.  Young Guns members will help with shooting and other activities for the kids at the event.

 Upcoming Events:

 October 17th & 18th  - Rooster Madness at Green Acre Sportman’s Club.  Participants will have the opportunity to hunt, trap shoot, enter the gun raffle and enjoy great food.  Contact chapter members to get your ticket.

Minutes for meeting on 11-16-15

 Curt Edwards informed the group about a 12 acre CRP project on his property.   A motion to cover half of the project was made, roughly $700.  Brandon Magers first and Jeff Polson second the motion, the motion passed unanimously.

 A tree project at George Ihrke’s property was discussed.  1100 trees have been planted on the south east edge of his property.  George was seeking assistance with the establishment of the tree project.  A motion was made for the chapter to cover 100% of the tree cost, $1396.  Brandon Magers first and Mike Frichtl second and the motion carried unanimously.

 Mike Frichtl has a 2 acre CRP project on his property.  A motion for the chapter to cover half of the establishment was made, $175.  Dave Kaeding first and Jeff Polson second, the motion carried unanimously.

 Pete St. Peter approached the Canadian National rail road company he works for about assistance with the refurbishment of the golf cart for Young Guns.  Canadian Nation agreed to donate $1200 toward the cost of the project.

 State Pheasants Forever meetings in Peoria were discussed.  Meetings are January 22, 23 & 24.  Lisa Magers would like to make reservations ASAP, contact chapter leaders if you are interested in attending.

Several individuals from the chapter will be attending.

The chapter received the “No Child Left Indoors Award” for the state of Illinois and will now compete for the same award on a national level at Pheasant Fest in February. Dan Ihrke was the recipient of the “Volunteer of the Year Award”. The chapter pledged $1000 each to the Legislative Action Fund and the Forever Shooting Sports Endowment program.

National Pheasant Fest is February 14, 15 & 16 in Milwaukee, WI. The Magers will take a group of kids to the event to participate in the Youth Village at Pheasant Fest. The Laser Shot and Fishing Simulator systems will be trucked to the event by Kevin Bachman.

Reviewed the Banquet – 375 people attended, revenue was slightly down from 2013 but
overall still very strong.  Serving the meal took roughly 30 minutes for all in attendance and
remarks about the meal were very positive.  A few new games were discussed as well as
eliminating a few games that are not very profitable.  Suggestions to sell hats at the door &
huggies at the bar were discussed.

A Youth & Sponsor Hunt was held at Green Acres on Sunday 3/30.  35 to 40 guests
attended and had a great day.

A Veterans Hunt at Green Acres was discussed.  A tentative schedule for some time in
September or October is likely.  More details to follow.

The Shoot Team will travel to Sparta to compete in a shooting event on Saturday June 28th.  The Shooting Team Wrap Up event is planned to be held on Wednesday July 2nd at the Loda Sportsmen’s Club at 6 pm.

Young Guns members will take the log cabin trailer to Saybrook for their 4th of July activities on Sunday June 29th. 

The FFA Shoot at Loda Sportsmen’s Club is scheduled for Monday June 30th.

A Women’s Shoot will be held on July 11th and a Youth Shoot on July 12th at the Foosland Sportsmen’s Cub.

Rooster Madness is tentatively set for October 18th & 19th.  The Youth Hunt would be held on October 26th, both events at Green Acres Hunt Club.

The Ryan Coe Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday July 19th at Dan Rogers’ property.  More information will be available at the Young Guns website.

The chapter will participate in the Illinois State Fair again this year.  The dates are August 7 through 17.

 The Ryan Coe Fishing Derby was held on July 19th west of Loda. 97 kids participated in the event with roughly 250 people served for supper. Everyone enjoyed the day.

The Ford Co. Fair Food Stand went well.  The chapter surpassed last year’s gross income for the event, exact numbers will follow. 

The chapter will be at Conservation World at the Illinois State Fair from August 7 – 17. Volunteers are needed for the booth, call chapter leaders if you would like to help. A Henry Big Boy will be raffled.

Eric Swenson discussed hosting a Disabled Veterans Hunt at Green Acre Hunt Club in September.   More information will follow.

 Jason Bleich updated progress on several habitat projects in the area.  The Ihrke project looks very good, however, some farmer neighbors & FSA County Board members have complained about the project.  At this time the project is progressing on schedule.  Contact Jason with any questions.

 State Pheasants Forever Meetings will be January 16, 17 & 18 in Peoria at the Par-a-dice casino.

 A group of chapter members attended a youth event at the Carmi PF chapter.  The event went very well and the Air Rifle Trailer was a big hit.

 77 hunters participated in Rooster Madness at Green Acre’s on October 18th & 19th.  Two great days of hunting were enjoyed by all in attendance.  The event was a big success.

 38 kids participated in the Youth Hunt held at Green Acre’s on October 26th.  All involved had a great day of hunting.

 Fred Magers mentioned that Dan Rogers has offered to host a few youth hunts on his property.  Fred will coordinate details in the near future.

 Eric Swenson and chapter members discussed hosting a Veteran’s Hunt at some point in the future.  Possible dates for the event will be discussed in upcoming meetings.

 Several chapter members and youth group members will be attending Pheasant Fest in Des Moines, IA on February 20, 21 & 22.  Contact chapter members with any questions.

He graduated off both the state and national councils and has now been put in an adult leadership role overseeing the council which is made up of kids from all over the State of Illinois.

The chapter will run a concession stand at the 2013 Ford Co. Fair. The fair starts on June 23 rd and runs through the 29 th. Volunteer’s will be needed to run the stand each day of the fair, 4 to 5 people per day would be best. Contact chapter officers if you are interested in helping with the fair.

A Hunter’s Safety Course is planned for April 5 th & 6 th at Bachman’s Farm. More information will follow on the Young Gun’s website as the date approaches.

Fish Fry at LSC on Thursday February 21 st, the event will start around 4:30pm. Also, on the 21 st a group of Young Guns members will attend the Crime Stoppers’ meeting at the Gibson City Library.

Brandon Beltz with Illinois Pheasants Forever & Jason Bleich with the Ford Co. SWCD attended the meeting to discuss habitat issues with chapter members. Brandon Beltz is the Farm Bill Biologist for East Central Illinois. Brandon will conduct a habitat workshop in the Buckley/Loda area on March 21 st. Topics covered at the workshop will include: Management of CRP, SAFE Program, CRP signup this spring and summer and more. The workshop will run from 10 am to 2 pm, contact Brandon at bbeltz@pheasantsforever.org or 217-853-0801.

Andy Bennett motioned to provide Brandon with $300 to cover mailing and lunch costs for the March 21 st workshop. Brandon Magers second the motion, the motion passed unanimously.

Improvement of area state pheasant hunt areas, such as Herschel Workman, was discussed. These areas are in need of habitat improvement. Brandon Beltz mentioned Pheasants Forever is aware of these needs and plans to improve these hunt areas are being prepared.

Providing soda to children attending the banquet was discussed. Dean Blackford motioned to give each child in attendance 1 token for a free soda, Everett Landrus second and the motion passed unanimously.

Todd Coe discussed preparations to purchase fish and have them delivered to Dan Rogers’s pond. This issue was discussed a few months ago when the Fleming family donated $525 to support the Fishing Derby held at the Rogers property the last few years. The donation was made in honor of the Fleming’s father who loved to fish with family.

Reviewed the Banquet – 324 people attended, revenue was up from 2012 making this the second largest banquet in chapter history in terms of total revenue. Overall banquet went very well. Serving the meal took 22 minutes for all in attendance, this demonstrates the efficiency of the meal setup and preparations. A few new games were discussed as well as eliminating a few games that are not very profitable.

Youth activities focusing on conservations projects were discussed. Young Guns members volunteering for community services activities were suggested as good community exposure.

Dave Kaeding mentioned that National Pheasants Forever will make money contributions to chapters for every volunteer hour turned in by a chapter. The chapter will explore this source of funds.

Jason Bleich was introduced as the IL Farm Bill Biologist serving East Central Illinois.

Discussed the Quick-Draw Program for 2013-14. Chapters have the opportunity to purchase a Kimber Solo Carry and a DPMS Panther .223/5.56. Chapters can purchase up to 3 guns, this will be discussed further at the next meeting.

Dave Kaeding announced that the chapter sold approximately 80 Gun-A-Week tickets for this year’s drawings. The chapter won a shotgun for selling this number of tickets.

Pioneer Chapter members and volunteers will run a food stand at the Ford Co. Fair. The fair runs from June 23 to June 29. Contact chapter officers if you would like to volunteer. A Remington 887 shotgun will be raffled at the fair.

A habitat project at the Herschel Workman Pheasant Hunt area was discussed. The chapter had an opportunity to purchase Forbes seed at a reduced rate and this seed will be planted at Herschel Workman next spring.

Young Guns members helped Iroquois Co Pheasants Forever host a 4H youth shoot.

Updating the chapter website was discussed. John Grady will work at this in the near future.

The chapter food/nesting plot drills are in need of maintenance or replacement.

A BB-Gun trailer has been purchased. Funds for the trailer came from donations and grants to the chapter. The trailer will allow Young Guns members to participate in competitive shooting events. Moe Morris & JT Grady will be working on the trailer to get it operational. JT Grady will be working toward his Eagle Badge with this project.

The Ryan Coe Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday July 13 th at Dan Rogers’ property. More information will be available at the Young Guns website.

The chapter will participate in the Illinois State Fair again this year. The dates are August 8 through 18. A Henry Golden Boy .22 will be raffled.

The Ryan Coe Fishing Derby was held on July 13 th west of Loda. 105 kids participated in the event with roughly 250 people served for supper. Everyone enjoyed the day. Fred Magers motioned for the chapter to pay for T-shirts give away at the Fishing Derby. Moe Morris second and the motion passed unanimously.

The Ford Co. Fair Food Stand went well. The chapter made nearly $3000 profit despite many rain downpours. The hope is to make the stand better next year with the experience gained at the 2013 fair. Thanks to following business’s for their donations: Big R, Sam’s Club Normal, County Market, Alco, Walmart, Pioneer, Monical’s, Just Hamburgers.

The chapter will be at Conservation World at the Illinois State Fair from August 8 – 18. Volunteers are needed for the booth, call chapter leaders if you would like to help. A Henry Golden Boy .22 will be raffled.

Chapter members will attend the Focus on Forever Conference to be held at Rockford, IL in August.

Jason Bleich reported the chapter will be reimbursed for the “Rust Switchgrass Project”. The chapter will receive $40/ acre on the 19.3 acre project. Future projects will be started this fall at Green Acres Sportman’s Club. Also, replacement of the seed drill was discussed, this was tabled for future discussion.

State Pheasants Forever District Meetings will be held in July. July 23rd the district meeting will be held at the Par-A-Dice Hotel in East Peoria.

Ralph gave the treasurer’s report. Check book balance is $36,014.71. Deposits for the month were $16,477. This included state fair revenue, gun raffle, midway USA, high school shooting fees, donations, ribs sales. Dave motioned to approve the report, Everett Landrus first and Moe Morris second, the motion pass unanimously.

Hunter Safety Course will be held on Friday Sept. 20 th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and Saturday Sept. 21 st from 8 am to 4 pm at Bachman’s Farm.

State Pheasants Forever Meetings will be January 17 th & 18 th in Peoria at the Par-a-dice casino.

New games and prizes were discussed for the banquet. A wheel game to replace the dice game was mentioned, selling tickets for a gun safe with 1, 2 or 3 guns inside was discussed and power tools for the silent auction was mentioned.

The chapter habitat summary is needed by national Pheasants Forever. Dave Kaeding will follow up on this with Jason Bleich and Todd Coe.

Fred Magers mentioned that Dan Rogers has offered to host a few youth hunts on his property. Fred will coordinate details in the near future.

Jason Bleich discussed several habitat projects that will be coming up for the spring. The chapter will be participating in three projects. The chapter’s share of these projects will be $300, $450 & $19,200. The chapter will discuss details with Jason & Aaron Kuehl to make sure reimbursement payments are timely.State Pheasants Forever Meetings will be January 17 th & 18 th in Peoria at the Par-a-dice casino.

Pheasant Fest will be in Milwaukee, WI on February 14-16, 2014 at the Wisconsin Center.

Fred Magers reported several Young Guns members assisted with a youth activity in the DuPage Co. area.

A motion was made for the chapter to buy $200 of Clayton Hale Fund raffle tickets. Brandon Magers 1 st, Moe Morris 2 nd and the motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made for the chapter to support the Gifford relief efforts to a maximum amount of $500. Chapter members will discuss options for the form of support. Mike Frichtl 1 st, Brandon Magers 2 nd and the motion passed unanimously.
