Minutes for meeting on 1-21-08.

 

Members present: Dan Coulter, Dave Kaeding, Matt Bradshaw, Andy Bennett, Jeff Blackford, Dean Blackford, Everett Landris, Ed Kallal, Mike Frichtl, Tim Easton, Ralph Esgar, Jeff Polson, Doug Tucker.

 

Opener Shoot on November 3, 2007 was discussed. The chapter netted $900. A gun was raffled, chili was available for donations, and 40 rounds of sporting clays were shot. Roughly 80 people attended. Event will continue next year. Suggestions included adding art print raffles and tip boards.

 

Farm Bill CP 38 was discussed – Matt Bradshaw said roughly 20,000 acres are available with this program. Habitat would be focused around the habitat wheels.

 

Suggestions were discussed regarding improving existing habitat and expanding habitat into desirable areas.

 

Purdueville site rent will not be paid by the chapter this year.

 

Mike Frichtl asked for a count of trees to be ordered for habitat projects.

 

Prepare 3000 tickets, 600 mailing list, discuss guns with Jim Kietzman.

 

The Banquet originally scheduled for March 22 nd at the Krouse Center will be rescheduled for March 29 th to avoid any conflicts with Easter which is on the 23 rd.

 

Suggestions for the Banquet included:

 

- Pay for kids PF membership with banquet attendence, if first time members.

- Start serving food earlier – 5:30 pm was suggested.

- Similar menu, possibly include dessert.

- Conduct a live auction for gun cases containing a gun, value of guns in the cases would range from high to low.

- Andy and Matt will get the banquet package together.

- Meetings will be held on the 1 st and 3 rd Mondays of each month leading up to the banquet.

- Possibly include a TV as one of the giveaway items, discuss next meeting.

 

Gerry Rodeen gave a pep talk about the future of the chapter.

Minutes for meeting on 2-18-08.

There will be a meeting next Monday to prepare the mailing for the March 29 th banquet.

 

Young Guns Program – Start with youth shoots at the Loda Sportsmen Club and Green Acres. Ages 10 through high school would be included. Information will be included in the banquet mailer.

 

Guns are ordered, most are in; 26 guns ordered at $7700. We will have the 5 gun raffle, will decide on the guns for next weeks mailing.

 

Discussed games and guns to be assigned to each game. Games include:

 

Shell game, Pheasant Drop, Reverse Bingo, Box Game etc.

 

Guns to be assigned for Big Gun raffle, contractor gun, youth gun, ladies raffle, reverse bingo, box game, and suggested a Free gun to veterans.

 

Participate in Toby Brown fund raiser for his nine year old daughter who suffered a stroke. Donations of hats and an art print were suggested.

 

Discussed funding a Pheasant Forever sign at the Buckley and Paxton Little League ball fields. Signs would cost around $200. Information on the Young Guns Program would be incorporated into the sign.

 

Members work on items for the silent auction.

Reviewed the Banquet – approximately 285 people attended, a new high revenue mark was set. Overall banquet went very well.

 

Dave Fredrickson suggested raffles not be called during the meal to prevent delays in the meal line.

 

Gerry Rodeen suggested we collect email addresses in next years banquet letter. Also, suggested we explore online registration for next years banquet.

 

Matt Scudder was the first Young Guns winner of a shotgun. Congratulations.

 

Dean McAllister with the National Turkey Federation is interested in collaborating with our chapter on the Young Guns Program.

 

A Hunters Safety Course was suggested for July 25-26. Suggest site was the Loda Sportsmens Club.

 

Registration forms for the Young Guns Program were suggested to be circulated in the Paxton and Gibson City newspapers.

 

The first planning meeting for the Young Guns Program will be held at Andy Bennett’s on the first Monday in May.

 

$3000 was raised for the Young Guns Program at the banquet. A motion was made and seconded to donate an additional $7065 to the Young Guns Program to increase the fund level to an even $10,000. The funds for the Young Guns Program will be maintained separately from the chapter budget.

 

Dean Blackford mentioned a 20 to 40 acre tract of land near his property may come up for sale soon. Favorable interest in the chapter pursuing purchase of the land was expressed.

 

Mike Frichtl reported the tree order had arrived, he would place a seed order this week. He also mentioned two land owners interested in establishing food plots.

 

Dan Coulter suggested chapter send and pay for representatives to attend the State PF Convention May 2 nd and 3 rd in Springfield at the Crown Plaza Convention Center, motion was seconded by Dennis Lee.

 

Next years banquet was set for March 21 st at the Kruse Center.

 

Chris Engelbrecht of Fire Pit Grills will donate grill to be raffled off at next years banquet.

 

The next regular meeting will be on the 3 rd Monday in May at Andy Bennett’s

Minutes for meeting on May 21, 2007

 

Members present: Dave Kaeding, Jeff Blackford, Matt Bradshaw, Mike Frichtl, Ed Kallal, Dan & Ben Coulter, Jeff Polson, Andy Bennett, Doug Tucker and Ralph Esgar.

 

  • It was noted that the Kruse Center charged $2.50 for a can of beer for the PF Banquet. This was 50 cents higher than was charged for a recent wedding reception. Was suggested to request the lower price.

 

  • Roberts Gym was mentioned as a option for a banquet location.

 

  • Donated $100 to EI Baseball in past, moved to make $100 donation this year, motion carried.

 

  • Discussed Perdueville site - PF leased this site in exchange for CRP payment, PF also provides labor for some projects at the site.

 

  • Police Dept in Ford Co. hosting a kids fishing day. Dave K. asked for a donation to cover fishing poles for the event. Suggested amount of $200 was raised to $500 and hats (Dan to order hats). Andy asked Dave to let him know if anything else is needed.

 

  • Matt Handy asked to borrow drill. Drill is not available due to heavy use schedule.

 

  • Donation to the Legislative Action Fund was discussed. $1000 donation get a gun in return, a Remington 870. Motion for $1000 donation carried.

 

  • Discussed a 25 th Anniversary 3 gun package for next years banquet. Decided to get one gun, the BPS Browning was OK.

 

  • Proposed fine for harvesting food plots and bailing nesting cover - motion was not seconded.

Minutes for meeting on June 18, 2007

 

Members present: Dan Coulter, Dave Kaeding, Doug Tucker, Gerry Rodeen, Denny Lee, Ed Kallal, Jeff Polson, Matt Bradshaw, Andy Bennett, Jeff Blackford.

 

Amy Barden was reimbursed $875.00 for the Berretta A391 used for the card raffle at the banquet.

 

  • going to chapter officers banquet, committee members Dennis Lee, Andy Bennett, Dave Kaeding in Peoria on June 26.

 

  • Dan Coulter going to look into getting Loda Sportsman Club the Friday before pheasant opener for a possible outing.

 

  • Please have this done by August meeting.

 

  • What will be given away or raffled at this event.

 

New Business

 

  • Livingston Co. wants to get together Monday July 9 th, be there at 6:00pm.

 

  • Please make a mailing so people will go.

 

  • Anthony Pageant will be customizing print of the year at June 25, 26, 27 meeting for $100 a print.

 

  • Spoke about Mary Ann Kerns and the $8000 seed bill plus flipped on switchgrass field to corn.

 

  • Rodeen spoke about his big project that is already nearly planted.

 

  • Get more seed next year for projects.

Minutes for meeting on August 20, 2007

 

Members present: Dan Coulter, Ben Coulter, Dave Kaeding, Ed Kallal, Matt Bradshaw, Andy Bennett, Jeff Blackford, Mike Frichtl, Don Frichtl, Tim Easton, Ralph Esgar.

 

City of Paxton Ordinance on raffles was discussed. At this time it was felt that this was not a concern because the chapter was not considered in Paxton.

 

  • Perdueville site was discussed. Site was donated to the state by the chapter, the chapter was paying lease and taxes in exchange for a CRP payment of $5709. National PF no longer can make this payment to individual chapters making the arrangement much more of a liability to the chapter.

 

New Business

 

  • The Youth Hunt was discussed, a date of Saturday October 13 th was suggested. Information needs to be distributed earlier this year to inform more kids in the target age group.

 

  • Chapter will have a float in the Paxton Homecoming Parade.

 

  • Jim Kietzman has gun received from $1000 donation to the Legislative Action Fund. The gun is a Remington 870.

 

  • Event for Friday November 2 nd at Loda Sportsman Club was discussed. Event will begin at 5:00 pm on the Friday before pheasant opener. Food will be provided for a donation, sheet shooting will be provided for a price that will be set by the Loda Sportsman Club. A Remington 870 will be raffled at the event, drawing will be held at 8:00 pm for the gun. Tickets will be available at the September meeting. Dave Kaeding will coordinate the event.

Minutes for meeting on October 15, 2007

 

Members present: Dan Coulter, Dave Kaeding, Matt Bradshaw, Andy Bennett, Jeff Blackford, Mike Frichtl, Tim Easton, Ralph Esgar, Jeff Polson, Doug Tucker.

 

New Business

 

  • The Youth Hunt will be held on Saturday October 27 th starting at 7:30 am. An adult must accompany each child, and the child must also have a Hunter Safety Card. Members will bring dogs on the morning of the hunt, food will be provided by the chapter for lunch. Hats will also be provided.

 

  • Pheasant Opener Shoot on Friday November 2 nd at Loda Sportsman Club was discussed. Event will begin at 4:00 pm on the Friday before pheasant opener. Food will be provided for a donation, skeet shooting will be provided for a price that will be set by the Loda Sportsman Club. A Remington 870 will be raffled at the event, drawing will be held at 8:00 pm for the gun. Contact Dave Kaeding for more information regarding the event.

 

  • A billboard program was discussed. Matt will try to find 3 chapters at $1000 per chapter to invest in the program. 50 or so billboards would display pheasants forever logo and information for varying lengths of time dependent on when the billboard was sold to another advertiser. Lamar is the company name, billboards would appear around the state of Illinois. Matt said he would try to find two other chapters and we would discuss the topic further at that time.
